Twenty years in the Air Force taught me that “fit for duty” and “fit for life” aren’t the same thing. The first is what the service measures. The second is what your kids actually see — whether you have energy left for them, whether you can hike with them, whether you’ll be around long enough to meet their kids.
This blog is where I work out the difference. Trail miles, obstacle-race weekends, family workouts in the backyard, and the honest parts — the weeks I skipped, the runs I quit early, the workouts that didn’t go anywhere. I’m not a personal trainer or a nutritionist. I’m figuring this out in real time and writing it down.
